Subject: | Exempting School Districts from Prevailing Wage and Contributing Savings to Employees' Retirement (Previously HB1790) |
Pennsylvania’s Prevailing Wage Act unnecessarily inflates construction costs for public bodies such as school districts when they must undertake necessary projects. Many school districts are facing significant financial pressure and should be permitted to responsibly save taxpayer dollars whenever possible. In the near future, I plan on re-introducing legislation would amend the Public School Code to exempt school districts from the requirements of the prevailing wage when a district commits to use any savings for the payment of the district’s employer contribution towards retirement for school employees. Please join me in cosponsoring this important piece of legislation to allow school districts to responsibly save dollars by exempting them from a burdensome and unnecessary law.
