Subject: | Reauthorizing the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council |
In the near future, I will introduce legislation to reauthorize the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4). PHC4 was established in 1986 as an independent agency tasked with collecting and disseminating health care cost data. PHC4 has been reenacted and amended multiple times most recently with Act 3 of 2009, which expired in 2014. In July of 2014, Governor Corbett reauthorized PHC4 by Executive Order 2014-04. This legislation will codify PHC4 under Title 35 and will not include a sunset date. It will also make a number of modernizations to the Council including adding a member of the Senate and House of Representatives and allowing members to attend meetings electronically, removing the need for travel reimbursement. Previous versions of this bill have received overwhelming support in both chambers and I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. |
