Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2019 - 2020 Regular Session

Posted: December 5, 2018 01:29 PM
From: Senator David G. Argall
To: All Senate members
Subject: Reforming the process of electing the Lieutenant Governor
I will be re-introducing legislation that would amend the state Constitution to allow gubernatorial candidates to select their own running mate. This will be done in a manner similar to the process in which Presidential candidates select their running mates.

Under my bill, the candidates for governor and lieutenant governor can run as a team with a shared vision for the Commonwealth. This bill would provide for greater trust in the executive branch to delegate duties while avoiding potential division and friction between the two office holders.

This bi-partisan bill passed the Senate unanimously last session. Please join me in once again co-sponsoring and supporting this important legislation.

Introduced as SB133
