Subject: | Flexibility for Outdoor Dining (formerly HB2775) |
As we navigate through the Coronavirus Pandemic, we as consumers are faced with making difficult buying decisions. We are trying to strike a balance between being safe while still desiring to help sustain the local small businesses in our community. The pandemic brought to the forefront many of the obstacles our restaurants have to overcome and providing outdoor dining was no exception. Outdoor dining has provided consumers with a level of comfort where they can remain socially distant and feel safe while eating out at their neighborhood restaurants and bars but there have been challenges for licensees to comply within the footprint of their businesses. My legislation will remove many of the barriers for outdoor seating, allowing licensees to utilize this option more easily. Removing limitations concerning public thoroughfares, eliminating fees and reducing delays in approval are included in this plan. It will take time for consumer confidence to increase to the level previous to the pandemic and allowing our restaurant industry flexibility with their licenses will help them navigate this transition. Please consider cosponsoring this legislation and show your support for our local restaurants industry.
