MEMORANDUM

Posted: July 11, 2019 02:13 PM
From: Representative David R. Millard and Rep. Mark Longietti, Rep. Matthew D. Dowling, Rep. Dan Frankel
To: All House members
Subject: Congratulating Fallingwater and the Western PA Conservancy on Fallingwater being named a World Heritage Site

We plan to introduce a resolution this fall congratulating Fallingwater and the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy on Fallingwater being named a World Heritage Site.

On July 7, 2019, the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization named Fallingwater a World Heritage Site. Located in Mill Run, Fayette County, Fallingwater is also a National Historic Landmark and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Treasure.

Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the house was named the “best all-time work of American architecture” in a poll of members of the American Institute of Architects. It is now owned and operated by the conservancy and is open to the public for tours. It has attracted millions of visitors from around the world.

Fallingwater joins Independence Hall in Philadelphia as Pennsylvania’s two World Heritage Sites. Please join us in recognizing this Pennsylvania architectural landmark on this rare honor.
