Subject: Equal Pay Legislation
 
Women are at a disadvantage in the workplace. Women accomplish the same tasks, perform the same jobs, but are not paid the same amount as their male counterparts. It is time we stand with women and demand change and solutions to this problem.

My legislation would prohibit discriminatory pay based on gender and place new penalties on employers who practice these discriminatory wage practices. We need to correct this economic injustice by allowing employees the ability to inquire about wages and have employers disclose information about wages. In addition, my bill creates an Equal Pay Commission that will investigate and study this issue and the other factors that cause pay disparity based on gender.

I ask that you join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to move Pennsylvania forward and ensure all Pennsylvania workers receive equal pay for equal work and eradicate wage disparity once and for all.
