Subject: | Updating Compensation for Second Class Township Supervisors |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that updates the amount of compensation that MAY be paid to Second Class Township Supervisors. Supervisors often work long hours with little remuneration for their time and effort. The last time these rates were updated was in 1996 so my legislation would reflect a change for inflation over the past 20 years. Currently, township supervisors are paid based on the population of the township they represent. The chart below shows the amount supervisors are currently paid and the amount that my legislation would ALLOW, but NOT REQUIRE the township to pay them. Population Current Allowable Amount Proposed Allowable Amount Less than 4,999 $1875 $2,850 5,000 – 9,999 $2,500 $3,800 10,000 – 14,999 $3,250 $4,750 15,000 – 24,999 $4,125 $5,700 25,000 – 34,999 $4,375 $6,675 35,000 or more $5,000 $7,625 Any pay increase would have to be authorized by ordinance by the supervisors and would not take effect until the supervisors started their next six year term. This legislation is endorsed by PSATS, the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. .... |
