Subject: | Changes to Do Not Call List Law |
In the near future I will be re-introducing legislation aimed at giving consumers the ability to sign up for the telemarketing "do-not-call" list without requiring them to re-register every 5 years. This bill amends the Telemarketer Registration Act by removing the time period completely, allowing a one-time registration for as long as the consumer holds the number they register. The bill would also prohibit telemarketing on legal holidays. This legislation passed the House UNANIMOUSLY last session, but was not acted upon by the Senate prior to the close of session. Co-sponsors to prior versions of this legislation include: Aument, Baker, Barrar, Benninghoff, Boback, Brooks, Caltagirone, Carroll, Causer, Clymer, Cohen, Conklin, D.
