Subject: Workers Compensation Coverage for Volunteer Firefighters/Fire Police/Officers/Integral Members
 
In the near future, we plan to introduce the attached legislation which would ensure Workers Compensation coverage for all active duty Volunteer Firefighters, Fire Police, officers or directors of a Volunteer Fire Company, and integral members of a volunteer fire company if injured in the performance of their duties.

This legislation is a result of the Senate Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committee hearing on this matter where it is was learned that the State Workers Insurance Fund is denying coverage to these critical volunteers that are protecting our lives.
