MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 7, 2015 02:53 PM
From: Representative John Taylor
To: All House members
Subject: Repeal of January 14, 1951 Act Authorizing the Department of Highways to Erect and Maintain Toll Bridges over the Susquehanna River at Certain Points

In the near future, I will introduce legislation which repeals an archaic law from January 14, 1951 (former HB 2372 of 2013-2014).

The current law allows the Department of Highways to erect and maintain toll bridges over the Susquehanna River at certain points as well as provide the necessary approaches and connections with State Highways. Additionally, this act empowers counties to pay certain damages and provide for the collection of tolls.

This legislation would repeal this entire law, and PennDOT has stated that it is in full support of repeal.

Thank you for your consideration.

Introduced as HB1077
