Session of 2021 - 2022 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: October 25, 2021 10:03 AM
From: Senator David G. Argall
To: All Senate members
Subject: Ensuring Future Constitutional Amendments are Properly Advertised

We all remember how the Department of State failed to carry out its duty to properly advertise a constitutional amendment to bring justice to victims of childhood sexual abuse. Secretary Kathy Boockvar resigned as a result of this mistake and the Department of State was rightfully criticized for this shameful and embarrassing error.

In order to prevent the Department of State from making this mistake again, I will introduce a constitutional amendment to make it the duty of the Legislative Reference Bureau to properly advertise all future constitutional amendments.

I hope you join me in co-sponsoring this important constitutional amendment.

Introduced as SB940
