Subject: | Resolution marking 2015 as the Year of the Cop |
In the near future, we plan on offering a resolution to mark 2015 as the Year of the Cop in Pennsylvania. This will honor and celebrate the accomplishments of our men and women in law enforcement who on a daily basis put their lives on the line to protect the safety and welfare of our great Commonwealth. Increasingly those very officers that have sworn to protect our citizens have found themselves under attack. According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 126 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty in 2014, which is a 24% increase from 2013. The recent ambush style attacks of two Pennsylvania State Police Officers in Blooming Grove, as well as the two New York City police officers have violently demonstrated that more and more of our officers are being marked for attack. It takes a certain type of person to do what these men and women of law enforcement do every day when they put that badge on their chest, and it is only proper that we should honor the sacrifices that they and their families make to keep us safe. Please join us in honoring all of the men and women of law enforcement by marking this year as the Year of the Cop. Thank you for your consideration. |
