Subject: Cosponsorship - Governor's Physical Fitness Award
 
I will be introducing legislation to create the Governor’s Physical Fitness Award. This award will take the place of the President’s Physical Fitness Award, which was phased out during the 2014-15 school year. This legislation will implement a Youth Physical Fitness Program for schools, testing students, aged 7 to 17, in a range of events that measure muscular strength and endurance, cardio-respiratory endurance, speed, agility and flexibility.

Students who score above the 85th percentile will be awarded the Governor’s Physical Fitness Award. Students in the 50th to 84th percentile will receive the Commonwealth Physical Fitness Award. All other students who participated will be issued the Participant Physical Fitness Award.
