Subject: SUT Exemption for Animal Housing Construction Materials
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation intended to sustain and enhance agricultural operations in this Commonwealth.

My legislation proposes to exclude from sales and use tax the purchase of building materials used for the construction or repair of farm facilities used to house livestock or poultry. Providing this exemption lowers building costs and helps to improve the competitiveness of farms in the Commonwealth. The cost reductions further assist in the preservation of family-owned farms and ensures the long-term sustainability of our state’s leading industry.
