Subject: State Squires Week Resolution – April 22-28, 2013
 
I plan to introduce a resolution designation April 22 – 28, 2013 as “State Squires Week”.

Since the early days of its founding, the Knights of Columbus have worked to provide for the welfare and foster the development of young people as they follow their paths to adulthood. The Columbian Squires, the official youth organization of the Knights of Columbus, is a leadership development program for young Catholic men between 10 and 18 years of age. A Squires circle is an athletic team, a youth group, a social club, a cultural and civic improvement association, a management training course, a civil rights organization and a spiritual development program all rolled into one.

The Pennsylvania State Squires Convention will be held in Mechanicsburg this year from April 26 through April 28 and the theme for this year’s convention is “Faith, Freedom and the Future”. Therefore I am designating the week of April 22 through 28, 2013 as “State Squires Week” in Pennsylvania.
