MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 17, 2013 04:52 PM
From: Representative Michael K. Hanna
To: All House members
Subject: Co-Sponsor Resolution Recognizing the Lack of High Speed Internet Service and Cellular Coverage in PA Northern Tier

In the coming weeks I intend to re-introduce a resolution recognizing the lack of high speed Internet service and cellular coverage in Pennsylvania’s Northern Tier and asking for state cooperation to address the situation. As detailed in recent statements from PEMA, local officials, DCED, DEP and others associated with the development of shale drilling, the importance of these communication services is extremely important.

Recognizing the importance of expanding communications capabilities in the area for both the public’s and industry’s safety, I’ve been working diligently to prepare strategic plans to effectively address this issue. The resolution calls for intergovernmental cooperation, with each entity sharing use of existing towers and the development of infrastructure.

If you have any questions, please contact Alycia Laureti via e-mail at alaureti@pahouse.net or via phone at 2-2283.
