Subject: | Critical Access Hospital legislation - former HB 211 |
In the near future, I will be re-introducing legislation to help provide needed assistance to small rural hospitals in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania has thirteen critical access hospitals as defined by the federal law. These hospitals are reimbursed by Medicare on a "reasonable cost basis" for services. This legislation would require the commonwealth's medical assistance program to reimburse these hospitals on the same basis. Attached you will find a briefing paper and a list of the 13 critical access hospitals in Pennsylvania. This legislation is strongly supported by the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania.
