House Committee Roll Call Votes

Committee JUDICIARY Date May 14, 2013
Bill/Resolution SB334 PN0413 A01290 Type of Motion Adopt Amendment
Maker of Motion Rep. Caltagirone Seconded by Rep. Grell
Brief Description
First, the amendment uses the money saved by eliminating the seven Traffic Court judge positions to increase the compliment of Municipal Court judges by two in order to absorb the expected increased workload. Second, the amendment clarifies that the hearing officers to be added to Municipal Court need not be lawyers, but in the event that they are not lawyers, they must complete and pass a relevant course of training prior to assuming their positions. Third, the amendment makes minor technical fixes to the bill.
