Subject: | Wreaths Across America Day 2023 |
We will soon introduce a resolution designating December 16, 2023, as “Wreaths Across America Day” in Pennsylvania. The Wreaths Across America project began in 1992, and is now an annual tradition where Maine balsam fir remembrance wreaths are placed on the graves of the fallen heroes buried at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as more than 3,700 additional locations in all 50 states, at sea, and abroad, while saying the name of each veteran aloud. Its aim is remembering these brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces; honoring those who have served; and teaching our children the value of freedom. From the Revolutionary War to current day conflicts, our veterans are devoted sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters who came from all walks to life to put their lives on the line for our freedoms. In many homes, there is an empty seat at the table for the one who is serving or made the ultimate sacrifice. There is no better time to express our appreciation than during the bustling holiday season when it is often the most difficult time for these families. Last year's SR377 cosponsors include: Sens. Brooks, Argall, Haywood, Schwank, Bartolotta, Laughlin, Hughes, Martin, Browne, Mensch, Philips-Hill, Scavello, Hutchinson, Comitta, Vogel, Stefano, Dush, Mastriano, Brewster, Muth, Kane, and Tartaglione. While the official day will be December 16th, there will be a special service in the Capitol Building at a TBD date in December, 2023 (details to come). You are welcome and encouraged to attend this event. In the meantime, please join us in cosponsoring this resolution in support of our fallen heroes. |
