Subject: LBFC Study on the Economic Impact of Nonprofit Organizations in PA
 
In the near future, we will be introducing legislation directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee (LBFC) to study the economic impact of nonprofit organizations within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  
 
Pennsylvania is home to nearly 50,000 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, which employ over 800,000 Pennsylvanians, or 15% of the workforce. These organizations generate $116.7 billion in annual revenue and serve millions of residents. 
 
It is important that we understand the true impact these nonprofit organizations have on the Commonwealth and our economy, not only by measuring their revenue but by further understanding the value of the services they offer and the cost savings they provide to our state, county and local governments.
