Subject: Resolution to recognize PA’s contribution to Operation Desert Storm
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution to recognize Pennsylvania's contribution to Operation Desert Storm.

February marks the 31st anniversary of the conclusion of Operation Desert Storm. The conflict was an important moment in our nation’s military history and the overwhelming victory was the fruit of decades of training and professionalism. While it is often overlooked, the war restored confidence and patriotism throughout our country and liberated an entire nation from Saddam Hussein’s tyranny.

My resolution will specifically commemorate all Pennsylvania service members who displayed bravery, valor, and sacrifice as part of the war effort to liberate Kuwait.

This resolution will also pay tribute to Pennsylvania’s sons and daughters who made the ultimate sacrifice in the war. Sadly, Pennsylvania suffered a particularly high casualty rate after an Iraqi SCUD missile hit a facility in Saudi Arabia that housed men and women who hailed from the western part of our state.
