Subject: | Human Trafficking Awareness Month Resolution |
In the near future, we will introduce a resolution recognizing January 2022 as “National Human Trafficking Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. Human trafficking is a pervasive worldwide problem that impacts nearly every community across our nation, including communities in this Commonwealth. Perpetrators use force, fraud, or coercion to manipulate and establish control over individuals who are being exploited for labor and sex. Sadly, the victims of human trafficking are subjected to psychological manipulation until they develop loyalty to their traffickers who are only interested in profit. Efforts are underway to dismantle trafficking networks and help survivors rebuild their lives. It is critical to support these efforts to support victims and hold perpetrators accountable for the damage their illegal activities cause. Please consider cosponsoring our resolution which is intended to help raise awareness of the issue and acknowledge those who are fighting to stop human trafficking which is plaguing innocent victims. |
