MEMORANDUM

Subject: Skilled Nursing Care Week in Pennsylvania

In the near future we plan to introduce a resolution joining in a nationwide celebration which will recognize the week of May 9-15, 2021 as “Skilled Nursing Care Week” in Pennsylvania.

Established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967, National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW) recognizes the essential role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s frail, elderly, and disabled. The week starts each year on Mother’s Day and is celebrated through the following Saturday.

The theme for NSNCW 2021 is "Together Through the Seasons." NSNCW will take place May 9-15, 2021, and the theme will honor the collaborative commitment of skilled nursing care facilities and their staff in providing compassionate care to their residents during this unprecedented time.

Over the past year, despite the challenges of the pandemic, skilled care centers and their staff have shown an incredible and steadfast commitment to providing quality care and ensuring the safety of their residents.

NSNCW 2021 will focus on this collective effort and the amazing strength and dedication of those who work tirelessly every day to care for and protect frail, elderly, and disabled adults in long-term care. With each new season comes new beginnings, new strategies, and new information. Together we will get overcome the challenges of this pandemic and together we will begin to heal.

We hope that you will join us in honoring the work being done at Skilled Nursing Care facilities by dedicated and selfless healthcare professionals across the Commonwealth by co-sponsoring this resolution.
