Subject: | Captain Harry “Bud” Hetrick Memorial Bridge |
Soon, I will introduce legislation that will honor and recognize a veteran of the Vietnam War who lost his life serving his country. Captain Harry “Bud” Hetrick was Skyraider pilot, shot down while on a mission over Savannakhet Providence, Laos. During his service Captain Hetrick’s Aircraft was struck by enemy fire which resulted in the loss of his life on February 24, 1966. For thirty-eight years, he was listed as Killed In Action, but his remains were not repatriated to the United States until 2001. Captain Hetrick was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery. To honor this Jefferson County resident, this legislation will designate the bridge carrying Route 36 over the Red Bank Creek (locally known as the South White Street Bridge) in Jefferson County as the Captain Harry “Bud” Hetrick Memorial Bridge. Please join me by cosponsoring this important legislation to honor a fallen Airmen. |
