MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 19, 2021 02:21 PM
From: Senator Michele Brooks
To: All Senate members
Subject: Right-to-Know Law Reforms

I plan to introduce three pieces of legislation that will make changes to the Right-to-Know law.

The first piece of legislation will aim to permit local and state agencies to charge search, review and duplication fees when responding to public record requests that are made for a commercial purpose, to include charges for staff time required to respond to those requests originating from outside the responding municipality.

The second piece of legislation will protect an individual’s personal financial information from disclosure.

And, the third piece of legislation will be to limit an inmate’s access to information, in order to protect the law enforcement community as a whole.

I hope you will join me in cosponsoring these reforms.
