Subject: Clarifying Euthanasia by Use of Firearms on Pets

In the near future, I plan to re-introduce legislation to clarify when euthanasia by firearms in the Animal Destruction Method Authorization Law is appropriate. The Northampton County District Attorney raised concerns about inconsistencies in the law for the use of firearms by a pet owner to legally shoot their pet. The provisions of the Animal Destruction Method Authorization Law appears to give pet owners the uninfringed right to shoot their pet without recourse regardless of whether the animal is sick or injured. We need to better define when euthanasia by firearm is appropriate.

Please join me in supporting this important initiative.
