Subject: Legislative Budget and Finance Committee Study on State Police Budget
 
In the near future, I will re-introduce legislation, formerly SB 1092 of the 2019-20 session, that will impose a duty on the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to conduct a study on the effects of the budgetary impact on the State Police as a result of:
 
  • Providing law enforcement services to municipalities that do not have a police department of their own;
  • Enforcing the Medical Marijuana Act;
  • Enforcing the criminal laws of the commonwealth that prohibit the possession or use of Marijuana, and;
  • Enforcing the criminal laws of the commonwealth that prohibit illegal gaming activities.
The Legislative Budget and Finance Committee must prepare a written report of this study and file the report with the House and Senate by December 31, 2021.
