| Subject: | COVID-19 Emergency Funeral Assistance |
| In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to provide financial assistance to families who’ve lost loved ones due to COVID-19. 1,112 Pennsylvanians have lost their lives to date as this pandemic spreads. Unfortunately, we must all acknowledge that more will succumb to this virus. Research indicates that COVID-19 has had a dramatic impact on our most vulnerable communities. These Pennsylvanians cannot afford the expenses associated with sudden funerals for loved ones that are no longer here. My legislation will require that funds be allocated to the Department of Human Services to provide necessary assistance to families struggling with the costs associated with saying goodbye to their loved ones. Though we cannot make up for the lives lost because of this pandemic, we must do what we can to provide a measure of comfort to those left behind and relieve them of their financial burden. Please join me in sponsoring this important legislation. |
