Subject: | Day of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide |
Soon I will introduce a resolution once again designating a day of remembrance in the Commonwealth for the Armenian Genocide of 1915 to 1923. Generally agreed to have begun on April 24th, 1915, the Armenian Genocide, or Medz Yeghern, was the systematic extermination of the minority Armenian subjects of the Ottoman government. Carried out in two phases, the massacre resulted in the deaths of an estimated 1.5 million people. Please join me in keeping their memory alive and designating Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day in Pennsylvania. If you have questions about this legislation, please don’t hesitate to contact me. |
