|When we return to session, I will offer a resolution recognizing March as "National Nutrition Month" in Pennsylvania.
Since 1973, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, representing more than 100,000 food and nutrition professionals across the United States, has sponsored National Nutrition Month in March to increase public awareness of and attention to the need for and benefits of making informed and sound food and nutrition choices, and for developing healthy eating and physical habits.
With increasing levels of obesity, and increasingly sedentary lifestyles at all ages in Pennsylvania, as well as across the nation, the significance of good nutrition practices for both individual and community well-being is substantial.
I believe it is appropriate for the Pennsylvania Senate to lend its voice to enable and encourage people to make better food choices. I hope you will agree and join in sponsoring this resolution.
