Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2019 - 2020 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: November 1, 2019 11:53 AM
From: Senator James R. Brewster
To: All Senate members
Subject: Training for School Security Guards

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation requiring school security guards to complete the training required by the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOTEC).

Active law enforcement officers shall be exempt from the training requirements.

This is common sense legislation. We want our children to be safe in our schools and the people whom are employed as guards should have, at the very least, approved training to ensure their proficiency in providing the security they are employed to provide.

Introduced as SB1072
