Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2019 - 2020 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: October 24, 2019 01:50 PM
From: Senator Patrick M. Browne
To: All Senate members
Subject: Unification of the Department of Health and Department of Human Services

In the near future, I will introduce legislation to merge the Department of Health and the Department of Human Services into a new Department of Health and Human Services.

The statutory consolidation of these agencies will ensure better coordination of programs and services while reducing administrative inefficiencies. Some consolidation of agency functions have already occurred without statutory authority. The Department of Health and the Department of Human Services currently share human resources, information technology and fiscal management services.

By unifying these agencies under one streamlined operation, the individuals and families that receive these vital supports will experience an improved service delivery system.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation.

Introduced as SB970
