Subject: | Recognizing July as "Lakes Appreciation Month" |
In the near future I will be introducing a resolution declaring July 2019 as “Lakes Appreciation Month” in Pennsylvania. Our Commonwealth is home to more than 2,000 lakes, ponds and reservoirs. These bodies of water are critical resources across the state, serving our farms, the recreating public, and outdoor enthusiasts, as well as providing sources of drinking water. Aquatic species and wildlife also depend on their existence. Lakes are valuable economic resources for Pennsylvania businesses, tourism, and municipal governments. Maintaining the health of our lakes is the responsibility of every citizen. As a state, Pennsylvania recognizes the need to protect our waterways including lakes and ponds, both now, and for future generations. Please join the Pennsylvania Lake Management Society (PALMS; palakes.org) and me in supporting these essential resources. Thank you for your consideration. |
