Subject:	River Pilots of the Delaware River and its Navigable Tributaries

In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that would provide a rate increase for the River Pilots who navigate trade vessels along the Delaware River and its navigable tributaries. The rate adjustments is 1 percent in 2020; 1 percent in 2021; and 1 percent in 2022. These adjustments would help continue to support a first-class piloting system along the waters of the Delaware River and Bay; as well as a state-of-the-art Vessel Traffic Information System that is integral to safety and security efforts. This increase has been agreed to by the Pilots Association; the Maritime Exchange of the Delaware River and Bay; and shippers along the river. This bill will be similar to legislation introduced by Senator McGarrigle as SB 1352 of the 2015-2016 Legislative Session which was co-sponsored by Senators Greenleaf, Yudichak and Rafferty. This bill passed the Senate by a vote of 50-0 on 9/28/16, and was referred to the House Commerce Committee. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.
