Subject: | Allowing Certain Travel During State of Emergency Declarations |
In the near future I will offer legislation aimed at allowing certain travel on our roads during a State of Emergency. The last several winter storms have appropriately been proceeded by state travel restrictions to keep citizens of the Commonwealth safe. However it has come to my attention there are some essential services and industries who are also being restricted from travel that can operate in other states under similar conditions. My legislation, modeled after a similar law in New Jersey, permits first responders, medical services, public utilities, communications providers, and fuel and energy suppliers to continue to operate in a safe manner during a State of Emergency. It is important to ensure that citizens still have access to these crucial services and commodities even in adverse weather. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation. If you have any questions please contact Charlie O’Neill in my office at 717-787-3076. |
