| Subject: | Ending Daylight Savings Time in Pennsylvania |
| In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation which would place Pennsylvania permanently on standard time, thus opting the state out of the federal Uniform Time Act of 1966. For too long, the vast majority of our country has participated in the biannual tradition of changing time, an hour back in the fall and an hour forward the following spring. While the practice may have had its merits at the time the concept was established and gained traction in developed countries over 100 years ago, the practice has also since been abandoned by many countries due to the constraints and confusion the changes can impact on the both the human psyche and society. My hope would be that the federal government takes up this issue to ensure uniformity across the country, however, in the mean time I feel that the Keystone state should advance the idea and start the trend for eastern coast states and our region. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. |
