From: Senator Elder A. Vogel, Jr.
To: All Senate members
Subject: Establishes the PA Election Law Advisory Board
Within the next week I will be reintroducing Senate Bill 1249 from the previous session that amends the Act of June 3, 1937 known as the Pennsylvania Election Code.

The legislation will establish the Pennsylvania Election Law Advisory Board. The board will be charged with the following duties:
  1. Study the election code to identify statutory language that can be repealed, modified or updated.
  2. Collaborate with agencies and political subdivisions to study election related issues.
  3. Study new election technology.
  4. Evaluate the electoral process and identify best practices to ensure voting integrity and efficiency.
  5. Publish an annual report with the findings on the PA Department of State’s website.
Members of the board will include legislative appointees, one member of each congressional district, an advocate for individuals with disabilities, an advocate for voter’s rights, and a county election official.

This act shall take effect in 60 days.
