Subject: | Training Reimbursement for Newly Elected Supervisors |
In the very near future, I will be introducing legislation amending Section 607 of the Second Class Township Code to permit newly elected supervisors to attend conferences, institutes, schools and conventions prior to officially taking office. I am offering this proposal at the suggestion of the PA State Association of Township Supervisors (PSATS). Between the time an individual wins an election in early November and that individual takes office in January of the following year, several months have passed during which workshops and training sessions may be provided to better prepare them to assume the duties of their office. Currently, if an individual wants to attend training prior to officially taking office, that individual would have to pay the expenses of the training themselves. Additionally, a safeguard is included in current law that requires the board of supervisors to approve the attendance before the individual could be reimbursed for their expenses. Please join me in co-sponsoring and supporting this important piece of legislation. |
