Subject: | Local Taxation of Natural Gas, Hazardous Liquid Pipelines |
I will soon reintroduce SB574 from last session that will make natural gas and hazardous-liquid transmission pipelines subject to taxation by local governments, including school districts. Pipelines subject to taxation would be as defined by Act 127 of 2011, Pennsylvania's Gas and Hazardous Liquids Pipeline Act. Co-sponsors of SB 574 last session included Senators Costa, Schwank, Rafferty and Leach. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation and in recognizing the fairness of having pipeline companies financially support the local communities they must pass through in order to bring their product to market. |
Introduced as SB264
