Subject: | YMCA Advocacy Week |
Very shortly, I will be introducing a resolution to designate the week of August 7 through 11, 2017 as “YMCA Advocacy Week in Pennsylvania.” As the Senate Co-Chair of the YMCA Caucus and with the YMCA of Greater Brandywine in my district, I can personally attest to the outstanding work of the YMCA in my area and across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We all know the degree to which Pennsylvania’s 173 local Ys (the most in the nation) are valuable community assets providing programs and services to all children and families regardless of the ability to pay. Where would many of our communities be today without the YMCA? This resolution is being introduced to recognize the 4th annual YMCA Advocacy Week sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Alliance of YMCAs. During Advocacy Week, many local Ys host events at their facilities for local, county, state and federal elected officials to visit and learn more about how they are serving their citizens and our constituents. If you would like to show your support for Pennsylvania’s YMCAs, I encourage you to co-sponsor this resolution. |
