Subject: | Expanding Pennsylvania’s Automobile Lemon Law |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will expand Pennsylvania’s Automobile Lemon Law to include municipal road construction and maintenance equipment. Under the proposed expansion “Road Equipment” will be defined as any new and unused equipment used to construct or maintain roads, streets, highways, berms, shoulders, and right-of-ways abutting a road, street or highway owned and maintained by the Commonwealth and its municipalities. In my district alone I am aware of numerous cases where municipal governments were forced remedy issues with new equipment that would be covered by this expansion. Many Pennsylvania residents have positively benefited from the passage of the original Lemon Law in 1984. I think it is important to expand this protection to municipal road equipment to aid municipalities and ensure the equipment they purchase does not become an unnecessary financial hardship on it or its taxpayers. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation. If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact Mark Fetzko of my office. |
