Subject: | Temporary Suspension of Telephone Service |
In the near future, I plan to re-introduce Senate Bill 1079 from last session. This legislation would allow telephone customers to suspend their service for up to one year. During that year, they would maintain their telephone number and pay a flat $5 monthly fee for the suspension. No other rates, fees, or charges may be imposed for a voluntary suspension of service. This is a simple issue of fairness. Maryland has a similar law in place that allows consumers who may be out of the country for long periods of time to pay a simple maintenance fee. Thank you for your consideration. |
