Subject: | Increasing Personal Income Tax Poverty Exemption |
In the near future, I will be reintroducing SB297 from last session. This legislation would increase the poverty exemption for the personal income tax by $1,000 per dependent. Under the proposal, the current exemption of $9,500 would be increased to $10,500, thereby increasing the income threshold for a married couple with two dependent children to qualify for the poverty exemption from $32,000 to $34,000. Previous cosponsors include: Brewster, Browne, Costa, Farnese, Fontana, Haywood, Schwank, Tartaglione and Williams. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. |
