Subject: | Extension for the funding deadline of the Service and Infrastructure Improvement Fund |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that would amend the Unemployment Compensation Law by extending the funding deadline for the Service and Infrastructure Improvement Fund to the end of the 2020 fiscal year. The Service and Infrastructure Improvement Fund was established to help assist the Department of Labor and Industry in order to expedite the processing and review of unemployment compensation claims. However, the funding for the Service and Infrastructure Improvement fund is due to “sunset” at the end of this fiscal year. Without this funding, the Department of Labor and Industry will not have the necessary funding to invest in better technologies and personnel to assist processing unemployment claims in a timely manner. The workers of the Commonwealth deserve our support, at this their most vulnerable time. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation. |
