Subject: | Moratorium on new state-approved charter schools |
In the near future, I intend to reintroduce SB 1204 from last session. This legislation will impose a moratorium on the approval of any new charter or cyber charter school by the State Charter School Appeal Board or any new cyber charter school by the Department of Education effective within sixty days of the act. Local school boards would still be able to approve new charter schools. The moratorium shall expire on June 30 of the school year following the implementation of a new testing procedure that more fairly and accurately measures the academic performance of students, schools, school districts and educators. Thank you for your consideration. |
Introduced as SB321
