Subject: | Snow and Ice Removal for Large Trucks |
In the near future, I plan to reintroduce legislation that would require motorists in Pennsylvania driving a truck with a registered gross weight exceeding 48,000 pounds to clear snow and ice from the top of their vehicles before driving on our roadways. The legislation would allow law enforcement officers to fine motorists of these vehicles who fail to do so. Several years ago, a woman named Christine Lambert was tragically killed on Christmas Day when a slice of ice from the truck in front of her crashed through her windshield. This legislation would reduce this risk by making certain the largest of trucks, which are often the most dangerous in terms of snow and ice accumulation, are not a danger to other drivers. I invite you to join me as a co-sponsor of this legislation. This is a reintroduction of SB 746 from the previous legislative session. Co-sponsors include: FARNESE and SCHWANK. |
