Subject: | Legislation - Procurement Code Modernization |
In the near future, I plan on introducing legislation to modernize the Procurement Code to promote participation by small and disadvantaged businesses in government contracting. This bill would create targeted initiatives that would enable small and disadvantaged businesses to better compete for government contracts. Among other initiatives, this legislation will establish a small business reserve, a statewide bonding program and a mentor-protégé program. Pennsylvania’s economic recovery remains fragile and this proposal would encourage job creation for small businesses. Please join me in promoting small and disadvantaged business utilization. Thank you for your consideration. This was Senate Bill 228 from last session, introduced by Senator Washington and co-sponsored by Senators Yudichak, Brewster, Fontana, Hughes, Costa, Farnese, Williams and Kitchen. |
