Subject: Conflicts of Interest – School Districts
 
Openness, transparency, and accountability are key principles in any government entity. For this reason, I will shortly be introducing legislation to discourage conflicts of interest among school board members. Specifically, my bill would remove any school board director who directly or indirectly demands, seeks, receives, accepts, or agrees to accept anything of value to influence official acts.

The bill would also require the chief school administrator and board secretary of school districts, charter schools, cyber charters, and vocational-technical schools to submit reports on the:
  • Learning progress of students by grade, building, and ethnicity, and;
  • Number of reported disciplinary incidents involving students, faculty, and staff.
