Subject: | Chief Warrant Officer Matthew Ruffner Bridge Naming |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to designate the bridge that carries Eastbound US 22/US 322 over Interstate 81 as the Chief Warrant Officer Matthew Ruffner Memorial Bridge. This span was recently damaged by fire from an overturned tanker truck. The bridge is currently under construction, and is scheduled to reopen sometime in November. My legislation will rename this bridge in honor of Ruffner, who lived in Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County. Ruffner was killed in Afghanistan on April 9, 2013 in the line of duty. Chief Warrant Officer Ruffner was a true hero and paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country. I feel that it is only right that we name such an important bridge after him so that we have a constant reminder of his bravery and dedication to our freedom. |
Introduced as SB1213
