Subject: 50th Anniversary of the Meadows Racetrack and Casino
 
In the near future, I will introduce a resolution recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington County.

On June 28, 1963, the Meadows Racetrack and Casino opened its doors as the first pari-mutuel harness racing track in western Pennsylvania. For half a century, the Meadows has provided jobs to its permanent work force and through the horsemen and horsewomen who campaign their horses there. It serves as a key generator of economic vitality in Washington County and the Commonwealth, stimulating growth in Pennsylvania industries such as horse breeding and the travel/tourism and hotel/restaurant sectors.

Please join me in celebrating the Meadows 50th Anniversary of continuous operation on June 28th.
